The purpose of the PADI Underwater navigation Speciality course is to assist all divers in polishing their underwater navigation beyond the Open Water Diver level. The goal of PADI underwater navigation training is to enhance the student’s  underwater navigation skills through knowledge development and skills practice.

Who Can Do It?
Ages 14+ 
PADI Open Water Diver, Junior Open Water Diver, or an equivalent rating

  1. Pool Session to work on knowledge review and techniques
  2. Open water dives 
 
What's Covered?
What are four patterns commonly used by divers for underwater navigation?
  • What six tips make using a dive pattern more effective?
  • What features should a good underwater compass have?
  • What is the correct position for holding a compass to maintain an accurate heading?
  • How do you set a compass for a heading, for a reciprocal course, for a square/rectangle pattern and for a triangle pattern?
  • What techniques can you use to avoid errors when navigating with a compass?
  • How do you use permanent shore landmarks to fix and relocate an underwater site?
  • How do you use compass bearings to fix and relocate an underwater site?

How Long Does it Take?
One evening in the to go over knowledge review and 1 Day of a weekend for the 2 Dives
  
When and Where does it take place?
We operate our pool sessions from The Tallaght Leisure Centre

Theory Sessions from 7pm - 8pm Water Time is from 8pm - 9pm 
We meet every Thursday at 6.30pm in the cafe area.
 
Our Openwater dives are done either in 'Scotsmans bay' (by Teddies) or 'Sandycove' in Dun Laoughaire. 

Where do you go from here?
If you want to progress and dive to still greater depths, dive wrecks, learn underwater photography, underwater navigation, peak performance buoyancy among many more specialities to choose from you can progress to Advanced OpenWater or Adventure Diver. For Any enquires  Contact Us
